My wife and I were sitting at a table at her college reunion which I would have been very happy to miss and found that she kept staring at a drunk nursing his drink as he sat alone at a nearby table. I asked my darling bride "Do you know him?" "Yes," she snarled, "he's my college boyfriend. I understand that he took to drinking right after we split up those many years ago and I hear that he hasn't been sober since." Before thinking, I blurted out "My God! Who would think a person could go on celebrating that long?"
