I recently read on the BB about Grand Honda in Elmhurst, IL selling S2000s for about $29k. When I went to look them up on Google I found this:

Date: 04 May 2000
General_Cmplnt_Form:
Grand Honda of Elmhurst IL

Holy cow! Just this past Thursday, I was at an office where I picked up the car section of the Trib and saw the advertised price of the S2000 at about 29K at Grand Honda. I kind of shook my head and figured the dealer simply had to be up to some kind of shennanigans.

Wow! This is not good...especially in the internet age...countless THOUSANDS of people have read the account of this guy's story...

Honda? Are you listening?!?

There is no excuse in the part of Honda for letting this kind of crappy service happen.

Dealerships represent the Honda brand name in the general publics eyes since they are the main contact.

If this really happened, those people:

1: Do not know how to run a business.
2: Should not be running a business.
3: 1 + 2 = They won't be running a business for long.

I agree. I looked at my first new Honda in 76, but bought a Celica instead because the local dealer wanted what amounted to about a 20% premium. I actually bought my first Honda in 84 (Civic) from a dealer 300 miles from where I lived. Why? Because of outrageous ADM charged by all the local dealers. After that I bought 2 more (an 85 CRX and an 86 Prelude) from non-local dealers (300 and 600 miles, respectively). Why? Because of outrageous ADM charged by all the local dealers. I bought the S2000 in Indiana. Why? Because of outrageous ADM charged by all the local dealers. I have found the attitude of a majority of Honda dealers to be very similar to that shown by the dealer in question, although not as blatantly crass. As I see it, nothing has changed in 25 years, and nothing will. The attitude shown by Honda in its dealings with consumers seems to be "up yours, if you don't buy it someone else will".

This is probably the only Honda dealer that doesn't know my face. . .I think that I am gonna go into their showroom and inquire about the $29K S2K. . .

. . .I really want to find out what the sales idiot, I mean salesman, is going to tell me about the car.

O'Hare Honda lost a sale on me for the S2K because he didn't take my "young" face seriously. . .Schaumburg Honda was about to rape me on the price, thank God for the credit I accumulated from them, and the dealership in Naperville only had the Red/Blk S2K. . .YECK!!!! Greg, don't flame. . .I am just kidding. . .I would have gotten a better deal from the Naperville dealer, but they wouldn't give me the credit Schaumburg would have, and I wanted the Black S2K over the Red one.
