Default Compressing Video in Permier

Hi everyone,

I have some cool footage from our day out on Winton Raceway in Australia but am finding it bloody hard to compress it to Web compatible size/format.

Can anyone suggest the best format please?

Current rate:

AVI file, 25fps, 16-bit 11Khz stereo sound, 352x268(?)

Size 300Meg for 2:24mins

Would like to get it to under 5 meg.

Please Help!!!

Thanks!

Why not use TMPGEnc and make a VCD? Most new DVD players can play them and you can just watch it on your TV.

What I do is drag the video to the timeline area at the bottom and go to File --> Export Timeline --> Advanced Windows Media

Then under the Manage Profiles window. Click new in the the custom setting dialog box. Follow these settings:

1st page
select a name for your custom setting
Leave as is

2nd page
Either Corporate LAN or cable modem/DSL (256kbps) (around 5megs, horrible quality)
or Broadband or cable modem/DSL (768Kbps) (better quality around 10 megs)

3rd page
select your preferred audio export setting, not to excede your raw file setting.
for video just choose Windows Media Video v7 and 320x240

4th page
frame rate 24fps
keyframe every 1 second
and 50% for the slider thingy

Then you get back to the Manage Profiles window, click close and you get back to the Windows MEdia Export Plug in Window and just hightlight the setting you just made and enter all the pertinent information, choose a destination and click OK.

Format's I'd use would be streaming Windows Media (.wmv) or Real Player (.rm) if Premier allows this. Encoders are freely available from the relevant web sites.

Personally I'd go Quicktime (Premiere's original format) or MPEG at 15 fps and mono sound.

Keep your source file and experiment with different compression levels and sound quality.

.wmv is such a bad format imo. I would recommend against it and go for an mpeg. Prolly gonna be a little bigger but at least you won't have the codec problems that you would with .wmv or .avi and will have better quality than a .ra realplayer file

Yep. Not evrybody can view .wmv's. But you can always make it a .asx instead.
