I'm happy to report that it's a 6 gig hard drive, three partitions of 2 gigs.

This thing was top of the line in 1997!!

I recently removed my Virus software - I needed disk space. I hadn't had a virus in almost 5 years with this machine....

Is cleaning the hard drive, etc going to repair the files that were trashed?

 

Possibly. Depends on the virus. Also depends on whether it is indeed a virus that's causing the problem.

 

buy a new computer. don't copy your stuff over just yet...go a month and anything that you say "damn I really need suchandsuch" copy it over. then burn the old computer. what, metal doesn't burn you say? your fire isn't hot enough!

 

take it to a computer shop.
