Default Computer problem, any ideas?

I'm running Windows 2000 Pro and the latest version of Windows Media Player. Anytime I try to download a video more than just a few seconds long my computer locks up and I have to hit the reset button to reboot. Any ideas of what I can do to correct this?

What spec machine are you runnning, with what memory capacity.
Also try using a freebie off the net called download accelerator as i find it helps with downloads so if it does crash it should just carry on from where it finished.

Hope that helps.

simmo, I'm running a P III with plenty of memory. I'll check out download accelerator. Thanks.

Does the problem occure while the video is downloading, or after you download it and you start to play the video?
Does this same problem happen when you try to download a video from a different site?
Also please make sure that you are using the latest service packs, and windows updates.

D_M, it happens as soon as it starts to download. I may be able to hear a little without the video but it usually happens within 2 or 3 seconds of starting the download. It does seem to happen most often when I try to download from a link on this site.

So it does or does not happen with other sites? You may also want to try to uninstall and reinstall windows media player.
