get a gps, with local maps in english, that has gringo english voice commands. when the thing tell you to turn just do it. at least it will tell you how far off you are from the destination when you get off the subway. get a japa text to english translator program, in short put both on a pda.

And do people even read anymore? Why the advice on getting a GPS unit or posting a subway map? I mentioned that this would be my fifth time visiting. I need fresh ideas, not directions.

yes people do read, it was a joke so lighten up. I was stationed in Japan for 3 years. Since you've been their four times you have a better idea of what you've seen and what you haven't. Maybe s2ki isn't the best place to ask these questions since I bet 1 in 1000 have actually been there.

Quick question, a little OT. Is tax there like VAT in Europe and how much is it? I see on lots of sites in Japan after the price it says tax included. Do you pay it if you're visting?
