do you think the suspect landed on his face and then ran 5 blocks away and the cops just took him into custody???
the place is just up the road from me and it's been the focus of the local news all week. during a TV interview, the Providence Police Commissioner clearly stated that the suspect was arrested after a "violent" struggle..

You know those cops were taking tremendous risk to chase after and arrest an alleged cop killer.
The fact is he was not shot and live to see another day. I will give the cops benefit of doubt then.
just want to set the record straight - I do have a few friends that are police officers and these guys are some of the nicest folks i know - I would not want anything to happen to these guys on or off duty BUT there are other officers that are out to get people no matter what
oh ya he resisted arrest - you've never been in cuffs have you thomas??
not proud to report that I have. and while I was young and stupid I thought it would be a good idea to continue to mouth off to the police while in handcuffs

Police are people too. When one of your colleagues just got gun down by this punk, I think it is quite difficult to control the emotions. Well, resisting arrest alone can get your butt kicked. Not to mention a guy who just shot a cop, he should have seen this coming.
Like I said, since I wasn't there, I would give the cops benefit of doubts.

[QUOTE=Bass,Apr 20 2005, 07:33 AM] no question the officers beat this man severely..
I also think the mask is only for shock value (make him look like Hannibal Lector)
The sad thing is that the family is stating that he is mentally ill and they asked for help for months to no avail
I don

first and foremost a parent can not commit a mentally ill adult person UNLESS he is a danger to himself or others.. (which sadly in the case may now be true) - Parents can ask all day long BUT unless he had had exhibited these dangerous tendencies in front of witnesses nothing can be done Furthermore there have been way too many financial cutbacks in the mental heath field that they may not have even had a spot for this person
and yes he may have killed a police officer BUT does that give the other officers the RIGHT to beat him like they did?? i say no - Justice should come from the courts and not rouge officers

agree with the budget cutback but come on, so now no parent is responsible for their children's action anymore?
"budget cut" that's gonna be my excuse from now on.
