Didn't read the whole thread but if you plan on spending enough per month at Costco get the Preferred Membership that gives you 2% back. I think it's $100 per year, then pay with your Costco Amex card which gives you another 2% back on Costco purchases, 3% at restaurants and 1% on all other purchases. If your local Costco has gas it's always around 10 cents lower then current market rates.

whereas my old costco in irvine (or just about any costco in SoCal) is always jam packed with people who can't get enough of bulk stuff to fill their condos, the costco here in indy are never ever crowded.

did anyone of you know costco's 100% satisfaction guarantee? you can return stuff you bought YEARS ago with the receipt. don't like that 67" samsung? return it after 12 months and get your money back. don't like that laptop after 6 months? return it and get your money back. you can just about return EVERYTHING you EVER buy to costco if you're not satisfied.

unfortunately, the alcohol is controlled here in Virginia, so we can't get Any type GG or anything cheap at costco. have to go to State owned ABC stores.

I like Costco better than Sams and it starts in the parking lot. All the Costcos have very wide parking places. I can drive my S to Costco but I wouldn't even consider driving it to Sams.

The bakery at Costco is head and shoulders above Sams or most other places. They make an apple pie from scratch that is to die for. Their cookies and most other things are moist and make Sam's stuff taste like sand.

Their stock varies more than Sams which can be a plus or a minus. I like finding new things in the store, but new things have a finite life and once they are gone, they are gone.

At the moment they beat everyone by a long shot on generators. They had a 3500 watt gen. for $199. Their biggie out produces the Sam's model by 500 watt running power and over 1000 watts starting power but costs $50 less. I bought both.

Their fresh foods and house brands seem to be better than Sams as well.

Consumer reports always rates Costco branded products right up there with the brand names and in many cases they beat the brand name. I still prefer Charmin but only by a hair.

Clothes are good at both Sams and Costco but the stock varies wildly.

Sams has a better floral dept for when you are in trouble with your wife.

I returned an empty bottle of wine, no questions asked other than why and that was just so she would have something to fill in her blanks.

My wife shops at Costco all the time. Being a dude I come from the line of thinking dudes don't shop. A side benefit of being married, I don't have to set foot in a store 95 % of the time. We get a nice little rebate check from Costco every year.

Dudes shopping? What's next helping around the house ?

I personally work at costco (when I'm on break from school). Its a pretty fun place and the managers area really great people.

Employees really do get treated right there, all more the reason to shop at costco

We have Costco here in Taiwan too. Been there a couple of times with my folks. Good stuff and low prices. Can't beat that. The lines are insane on weekends though. You'd think they are giving the stuff away!
