^ that would drive me nuts.

the problem is, hate it or love it, CL really is the only way sometimes to get rid of junk FAST. i've grown to just accept that CL is just like that.

Next time you post something on Craigslist, figure out what you want to charge, then add 50%. Then you'll enjoy haggling, because you'll know that when they think they've won, you'll have won.
Exactly! Because a majority of the craigslist buyers are always going to try and "Us" you down afew dollars!

I've had good luck on craigslist.

With that said, I too, am one of those who will talk down $10-15-20-50 whatever. Like others have said, it's the "CL mentality".

You don't know until you ask. I'm just not a dick about it "no? not $20 less? ok thanks" and that's it. No need to argue or anything

I hate the Craigslist wackos. I've had similar experiences.

Years ago I was interning abroad at a tech company and for six months I lived in temp housing. I bought a cheap ikea computer desk and chair to work with while I was there and advertised it for sale before leaving. A guy said that he wanted it for sure and asked me to remove the listing, and that he'd be over that afternoon to buy them. When he arrived, his first question was when was I leaving -- then he said he had some second thoughts and left. The day I was actually moving back to Canuckistan he shows up as I'm throwing a lot of crap into the nearby dumpster and says he's waiting for me to leave so he can take the desk and chair for free. I was so pissed off, I dragged the chair and desk out and hurled them into a dumpster full of nasty garbage in front of him and said he's free to take them if he wanted to dig them out (he didn't).

More recently I was moving from a house I was renting to a condo that I bought. I advertised a lawnmower for sale for $50 on Craigslist. This guy shows up telling me he'll take it and offers me $20. I said no, and he insists $20 was all he brought. I gave him directions to a nearby bank, and he just flat out refused to leave without buying the lawnmower for $20. I finally closed the door in his face, and the guy stood there banging on my door for 20 minutes until he gave up and left.

Wackos. I hate craigslist.

Why are the people buying off of Craigslist and the other classified sites SO FREAKING CHEAP??!? When did posting something for sale on there indicate you were willing to haggle over the most ridiculous amounts of money?
CL has some of the cheapest people on Earth. But once in a while, there are some really cool and generous ones as well. Last week, I sold a printer that I didn't need, the lady came and bought it, and she paid me $10 extra for "my time".

Not to be racist or anything (for I, too, am Asian), but I find that to be true; well, you and Indians, speaking from 1st-hand experience. Surprisingly, I've had good luck dealing with Asians; I had always thought the Chinese would be cheap-ass hagglers, but they've turned out to be pretty good in my experience.

now you know why I just throw my stuff in the garbage. I do not like haggling and to me its easier to trash shit or give it away to a friend than to sell it.

Zip, you and I are in TOTAL agreement here !
I advertised a microwave for 20 bucks. Amana. Guy shows up and said he's doing me a favor for him hauling it away and I should pay him.... He was serious.
Right in front of him, I smashed it and put it in a big garbage can...
Jeff!
