From: All up in your inner tubes. Whatcha gonna do sucka?
I got this bad boy on craigslist for $100.
I never haggle, and rarely I've been haggled... but luckily no one has lowballed me on the spot of transaction.
+1 for meeting buyers/sellers at neutral spots (assuming the object of sale is something relatively easy to move).
as for a tv (or the instance of the dreamcast system above), move it outside to the garage or front porch yourself, so the asshole doesn't come inside your home.

Living in apartments and condos I've usually had the people come upstairs to my door, and if they needed to come in to look at other items I've never turned my back, and nearly kept my hand in a fist the whole time with the assumption they were going to try to fight me
Probably made me seem less friendly, but I was just erring on the side (in my head) of needing to get into a physical altercation jussssst in case.

I think it also has a lot to do with how you carry yourself. Mikey, you automatically go in to defensive mode ready to fight. People subconsciously catch on to that (usually) and will be a dick right back.
I've always been pleasant on craigslist, and at the end of the day, if I offer something for $300, and they say "$280 or no sale" and I just want it gone.. wtf is $20 in the big scheme of things? I'm still +$280 instead of +$0

I'm an extremely friendly guy and I smile and welcome people in, I'm just on high alert mode - aware, not confrontational.
The worst site (worse than CL) is a Canadian one called Kijiji (kuh-jee-jee). That's where most of the "25 cents off or no sale!" people come from.
Anyway, I'll take another stab at this and see what the results are

We, the brown Middle Easterners, are the worst...

I advertised a cordless phone that we barely ever used, for $20. Today, a middle-aged Middle Eastern woman (named Ghada) came to buy. She offered $5 and kept telling me about this review on Amazon, that review from Google, and her old Panasonic phone, etc. I got sick of hearing her, so I agreed for the hell of it. She then pulled out a $5 bill from her pocket, seemingly prepared beforehand as if she already knew I would've agreed.
5 freaking bucks for a like-new phone that we barely ever used and paid like 10x more.
Should've kept it for the rainy days. Add 1 more to my list of "bad experiences with Middle Easterns and Indians".
These stories are why we donate most of our stuff to one of the local charities that resell. We get a fair market value deduction and they can make a few bucks selling the item.

Might as well wear a gun on your belt.

funny that you say that, when people come to the house to pick up a item I sold on CL, I greet them open carrying my Glock 27.

Your approach is more what we'd call passive-aggressive.
Here's one for you. Yeah, give this guy a creative paint job. Something that would probably go for $2-3k and check out how much this guy wants to pay:
