Default A crazy lady just yelled at me

So here's some background before I start: About a year ago I attended an office happy hour. A girl from the office got really, really drunk and had to be sent home. Another guy and I carried her outside and put her in a cab with another girl from the office. In the process of doing this, a weird old lady pushing a personal shopping cart started yelling at us. She kept yelling that our "friend" was an alcoholic and should be put into counseling. Whatever, no big deal, crazy people love to give their opinions on the street.

So anyway, the girl I am dating and I were walking up the street today when an older woman pushing one of those personal shopping carts approached us on a street corner. She asked if we were registered to vote, to which I replied, "yes, mam." I'm usually not that nice to people on the street, but I was with a girl, so I was nice. She then asked, "Do you want a Kerry pin?" To which I said, "no thank you." She then asked, "are you for Bush?" I said, "I guess" (I'm not really "for" anyone in particular, other than myself). After this, she started shrieking at the top of her lungs, "You're for murder, you're a murderer!" This was in the middle of a busy street here in Philly. I was kind of taken aback and just said, "get a life lady," and walked away. It later hit me that she was the same crazy lady who'd yelled at me a year earlier.

What would you guys do if some crazy old lady yelled at you in the middle of a busy street? I usually don't even talk to people on the street, and I'm not sure why I spoke to her, but I was a little bit shocked at this event. Would you have yelled back? Would you just walk away? I mean, she started yelling about me being a murderer in the middle of a crowded street. . . not exactly something I'd look forward to. If she pulls this again, I'd probably kick over her cart and walk away. . . seriously.

You should have just told her that your preference was your business, simple as that. If you kick over her cart and someone sees that only, they are going to think that you're the crazy one not her. You never know what that could lead to IMO so you're better off just ignoring her and walking away like you did.

Last year when some freak decided to nudge my car in traffic deliberately I got out and tried to get his details whilst still at the traffic lights and had to yell at him because he was a freak and wouldn't give it to me. So everyone around didn't see the guy hit my car and made the assumption that I was a psycho randomly starting road rage and yelled at me!
