Default Cutting the cord (sat/cable...) for basic OTA...

My wife and I are about to go into hardcore savings mode in earnest in hopes of purchasing our first home in the next year. We talked with a realtor and loan officer and it is definately doable if we stick to our guns. Anyways, one thing we are thinking about doing is cutting off cable and just going with OTA TV. I think we watch too much TV as is and so much of what's on the air just sucks anyways. I think if we keep DSL I can just download/torrent an episode of something if I really want to watch it. I'll go through some baseball withdrawl but overall I think it's a smart decision.

Has anyone else 'cut the cord' and been happy with thier decision?

I haven't payed for cable t.v. in at least 3 years. Between youtube\Hulu + a few other sites, I have been completely entertained for free. Better yet, I don't have to deal with stupid fawkin' commercials and I watch what I want, when I want.

I stopped watching TV completely several years ago. I use Netflix for a few hours each week for my fix. I don't regret my decision at all. There are plenty of cheaper and healthier types of entertainment.

Considered it. But I'd miss my racing too much.

That's what torrents are for. I watch every BBC F1 cast. Practice, Qualifying, Pre-Race Build Up, Race, and Post-race discussion

I'm considering this as well, but I'm still debating. I just wish these stupid cable companies would bill you on the channels you want only.

-hulu
-netflix

that's all I have, and I'm extremely happy with it. I haven't had cable in over 2 years.

I quit cable 4 years ago and can't stand watching it. We got a netflix account and bumped our data plan to the highest speed and still shaved quite a bit of money off of our bill.

Wife and I cut our ties with cable last month and so far its great. Between having 2 devices for streaming Netflix, Hulu and torrents we can watch everything we want.

We did have the whole, HD DVD with all the channels and in reality we didnt watch but a few channels.

It takes a little more effort to watch things you want but paying $100 less a month for cable sure is nice.
