Cutting the cord (sat/cable...) for basic OTA...
Also, if you watch a lot of network tv (CBS, NBC, FOX) then an HD antenna is also a must. I bought one and tried it. It worked great but we realized after a few days that we just dont watch network TV so I returned it.
cut my cable bill in half when i got rid of tv. all i have is internet and no problems whatsoever. hulu doesn't have like 80% of the shows i watch so i usually torrent everything, stream through xbox, and watch on the tv.
I haven't had it in years either. I have Netflix through my Xbox (Only get 1 disk at a time so i can save money and stream, so like $12 a month with bluray) and a standalone DVR for sports games and the 1-2 shows I do watch. Wouldn't get cable even if it was just $10.
Most of the stuff on TV is trash to just kill time. I'd rather be reading a book, working on my car, going to the gym, ect and having cable would just be one more distraction to keep me from something productive like that.

We've been doing this for some time now..
Netflix is great because you get movies at your door & you can watch a lot of shows on the netflix site once they're released on dvd
Neither of us miss regular television

I am a pay tv junky just for the ability to channel surf. I do admit that the price of my current setup is ridiculous, but Dish network has some HD bargain pack right now for new subcribers that is really good. You get a lot for ~$40 a month.
I'd rather have my tv and free dial up than I would having highspeed internet and no satellite, but thats my own preference.
But I just keep both and shell out the dough. I have to fulfill a couple time commitments on my services now, but come march I am doing Comcast High Speed, Dish Network HD bargain bundle and Vonage. That is the cheapest setup I can come up with that gets me all the things I want.
