Default Daytime running lights

Now I see why daytime running lights are a wise decision.

The other day on my way home from work I was driving on a two lane road, speed limit 35. I was going a little over that, maybe 38-40. As I was approaching an intersection, I see a car pull up to the light. I watch the driver look my direction for a moment, then proceeds to pull out in front of me. I slam on the brakes locking my rear tires (91 Prelude), nearly hitting him. Honking the whole time I am on the brakes. This has happened to me several times in the last few weeks.

After being pulled out in front of in both my cars (Prelude, S2000), I've decided to turn my headlights on while driving now. So far I've had several people waive me down to tell me my headlights are on ~ 91 Preludes have pop-up headlights so its not like I don't know they are on. It seems like I haven't had as many problems with people seeing my cars anymore. The S2000 is yellow, I didn't think I was going to have many problems seeing that car coming.

Sorry to complain, I just needed to vent.

I personally don't like cars with their lights on during the day, the headlight during the day is the one thing that helps motorcyclists be seen among crowds of cars (we need all the help we can get, you can't even imagine how many times people have pulled out on me, changed lanes into me, etc.).

driving lights are as effective as headlights in the daytime.

Pfft. On a m/c I prefer a modulating headlight during the day. Annoying as hell but legal in the USA by federal law.
