Deadliest Catch
I think its like any other genre of TV/movies. The first (or first few) are intriguing, as it gives us insight into something we didn't know about. Then the copycats come along. I also think it depends on the personalities on the show. For those of us that remember the first Real World NYC on MTV. GROUNDBREAKING!, now its just another piece of crap with 7 me-generations fighting for attention and their 15 minutes now and lifetime of 'reality star' airtime in the future. How about the first season of Survivor, when no one knew the tactics, strategy or game. Now, its a repetitive, common theme with a different background each season.
Deadliest Catch was an early 'job related' show, and the personalities are eclectic and interesting. Lobsterman was a poorly run, uninteresting show, period, and Axe Men just doesn't do it for me - its just a copycat with logs instead of pots and backhoes instead of boats.
The Deadliest Catch episode this week was very good. I had a tough time watching the interviews with the captain and other guys. I think the production team did an excellent job with the composition of the hour considering what happened.
