I only ship with UPS of FedEx. I have a few friends that work for FedEx AND UPS, and contrary to popular belief, damage to packages is purely accidental. Drivers are held accountable (not financially, but they do get writeups if a box is damaged, and can get fired with too many) for damaged packages. They are supposed to report all damaged packages if they receive them damaged at the truck, after that they ARE responsible for them. This is why many companies will tell you to refuse a package if the outside box is damaged. It is in their best interest not to damage your items, but like any business, there are a few asshats that just plain don't care.

Greyhound also is good for same day shipping if there is a bus going where you need to ship (and it's going there the same day). It has bailed me out of problems before. Weekends, too.
