If you really want to impress the ladies I would suggest loose emeralds and alexandrites. They are actually rare and have intrinsic value. read up on them too.

I love how people make post based on assumptions and uncomprehended reading.
1. Are you going to get down on 1 knee when you propose and show her a little emerald in your hand or give her a ring. I don't need to read up on any of your horrible ideas because a diamond is what you give a woman, not an emerald, CZ, or PB&J.

2. I love when the OP says "I want to buy a diamond" and then you say to buy a fake.

The concept of comprehension is lost on you, though....sad

tell me, whats your background in stones???

Do you have experience in buying and selling stones or jewelry?

Ever exhume your own diamond? Can you define Lapidary? Tell me the difference between a Cushion cut and a Assher cut.........

I appreciate your dilligent watch over the wishes of the OP but please let him/her decide what is prudent information and what is complete and utter horseshit.....thanks
I dunno diamonds, but I know women.

At least enough about women to know it better be a real diamond.

You can bring all the stone tech and what has which value, but at the end of the day, diamond = head, fake diamond = kick to head.

Your call.

You must be gay. As Chris Stack already mentioned, you can know all the fnacy words you want, but at the end of the day, a POS CZ is not what women. If you really want to be cheap and get something sparkly, just give your wife a discoball.

Can you define annoying?

what is your problem??? I offered my best to advice to the OP. my responses after that are defending myself to your assinine comments.

Sorry I mentioned any alternative. especially ones that produce better results than DIAMONDS!!!!!! you simply can not get anything through your thick skull.

Women would not care if it was a bat turd on the ring as long as it was expensive. You are simply buying into a scheme to keep the money in the pockets of greedy people. You are buying perceived value and nothing more.

Annoying, yeah I can define annoying. annyoing is me having to blatantly having to spell out things I have already made abundantly clear to people that type straight out of their asses.

this thread just gave me the cancer

Dude, the guy offered an opinion, nothing in there did he tell you how to live your life. The part I find so funny is that you quoted Chris Stack and a couple of posts above Chris Stack suggested Sam Club as a place to buy one. I know my sister would have freaked if her husband bought her a diamond from Sams even if it was better than the one form the jeweler... why.. who knows that just women.

With that said PrimoGen offered an option for a stone, not sure why you think you need to call names over what he buys his women or for suggesting options of things to buy. Have you been named the car forum liaison to all things diamonds for women? Relax and go spend your money on at Tiffany's for something that is "Genuine"....

I don't see anything wrong with getting a diamond at Sam's Club. You can also buy $,$$$ watches tehre and I believe they have even sold a 100k custom chopper. What I do think is rather odd is when the OP says he wants a diamond for his wife, Primo says that he should buy a loose emerald. Why doesn't he just buy her some shares of stock or a starbucks gift card.

I think Primo's point is that you can spend $60K on a D, IF 3 carat diamond...or you can spend about $150 on a genetically engineered one that will probably shine and sparkle far more than the real one.

Obviously this guy is already married, so he probably isn't too worried about impressing her to get her to marry him...maybe like he would have done the first time. If all she wants is a ring that will blind everyone when she walks around, they what does it matter?

Primo offered an alternative to spending a fortune, and everyone freaked out. Everyone except the OP. How does anyone know that he thinks it is a bad idea? He hasn't even responded about it yet.

Not to mention, Primo's first choice was Tiffany's. Then he offered an alternative. The OP wants a ring with fire and brilliance. There is Tiffany's...or there is the alternative. There is $60K or there is $150.

Just because some people think it is 'cheap' to get something like that, doesn't mean everyone does. Not everyone is worried about spending the most money.

^^^^ Thanks bcs (posted before my reply below.....)

And here I thought that a forum was for the open exchange of ideas.

How dare I go against the zombie-brained collective thinking of the value of diamonds and how they are the only option for wedding/engagement rings....shame on me

I answered his questions and then expounded on them. I simply contrasted the implied value of a diamond with the intrinsic and very real value of an emerald or Alexandrite.

I apologize for over-reacting to your initial comments I will go back to thinking and typing above your pay grade.

Lets recap:

I initially suggested Tiffany and Co. because they have for the longest time prided themselves on exceptionally brilliant stones and have patented several unique cuts including the Lucida cut which is considered one of the more superior cuts available.

Then I attempted to answer his question more fully by SUGGESTING that if he wanted the most fire, the most brilliance, the most sparkle he look into other lab created stones. They are chemically the same as diamonds but produce the very best in output, they are for lack of a better term....perfect. Moissanite, CZ etc... are actually more resilient than diamonds and offer more aggressive cutting techniques. This fact lends these stones to more refraction, which then equates to more light bending, which....tada!!! equals more fire, brilliance, sparkle...whatever adjective you want to insert. What is wrong with superior product at a lesser price???? anyone care to dispel that axiom??????

The OP wants a diamond....GREAT! Who am I to judge? I did not berate him, I did not call him names.. I answered his questions to the best of my ability and offered an alternative. I saw a chance to pass along my knowledge of the fallacy of diamonds and I took it.

It was not until I was stupefied by the wisdom of some of the more recent posts that I lost control and went off on a tangent. I apologize.
