Dickhead move or not?
Interesting dilemma but I guess I got it lucky since my in-laws are pretty laid back!
Actually in my case my parents were there from day 1 for our 1st daughter's birth. They were in the room next to us and patiently waited and spend the last year helping us take care of the newborn. Their help was in-valuable!
Now my in-laws are staying with us helping out since we just had a 2nd boy. I agree it's not always easy since their background is from China and my parents/us are from the USA but we try to make it work. There is no perfect world situation so just be glad this is all part of the life of growing up. One day your kids will get old and you will play the other part of the role too.

The grandparents in the waiting room at the most. If needed blame hospital rules.
Not to be a bummer or anything... but you really don't want/need others in the room if you get bad news about the baby. I've been there.
