Digital Camera Comparison/Opinion...
I'm looking into getting a Canon G3, but does anyone recommend something different around the price of the G3 ($550). I was looking also at the Canon S45, but i'm not a knowledgable to know the difference.
Any help is much appreciated.

I'm looking at the Powershot G3 and the Olympus C730 myself. Currently leaning towards the G3, but ask me tomorrow and I might change my mind.
A friend of mine just bought the G3 and is pretty damned pleased with it.

Check out the Pentax Optio S. Its the first high quality (3 megapixel) digital camera WITH 3x optical zoom that is tiny. Fits in Altoids container. Tons of functions, and easy to use. I'm very happy with it so far.
buying a camera, you gotta find out why you need a camera. When I was shopping around for a digital camera, I wanted something small but powerful, because in the past, I always hate to bring a camera to a trip or vacation, because it was so big, and I hate carrying a lot of things while outing, so I got this baby(canon s400, $500). Its a pretty new camera on the market, and it comes with 3x optical zoom, and it got a 4.0 megapixel, so I can take clearer pictures if I need to. Also I really like the iso setting where I can set between 50-400. I will add more comments later on.... class ending in 2mins.. hehe

as I was saying, even though I am not a professional photographer, with all the settings and functions I am able to do with this camera, I am able to take some really good quality of pictures with the 4.0 megapixel. Also when I was shopping around, I also wanted a camera that is able to record movie clips with sound, and this one can do that, with the ability of playing back with sounds too, so thats a plus I like. This camera has 4 settings, auto, manual, stitch, and movie. Auto, you just point and shoot, manual, you can play around with the settings, and stitch, you can take several pictures and after download to the computer, a software is able to stitch all of the pictures together. Movie is just recording movies. The camera comes w/ a 64mb card, and I can take about 20 pictures with the best quality and biggest size, but I usually use median quality and 640x480, and I can take about 200 pictures. Battery, I think it last pretty good period of time, just the other weekend, I took my camera to a campin trip on the beach, I was there for two days, with all the turning on&off the camera, flashes, and I snaped about 100 pictures, I had more than enough power to view and delete pictures on the trip back. Only after this trip, I truly love my camera, and it is small enough to put in my pocket, and quick taking shots, also it is built with metal case and anti-scratch, so I know my camera will be safe in my pocket. Well that is just my 2 cents.

Here's a 5 page thread on the subject. It's the best one I've seen so far:
