Even though only it seems one type of person can recieve your blood it is not true

O Positive 38%
A Positive 34%
B Positive 9%
O Negative 7%
A Negative 6%
AB Positive 3%
B Negative 2%
AB Negative 1%

When they take the whole blood and spin it down the red cells are not the only thing there. The plasma and platlets remain. If you happen to be AB negative then the AB negative person could get your blood and is less likely to get the positive blood. Rh factor is mainly a problem in pregnancy.

The main thing is that some of the other blood products (after centrifugication) are not type specific and so could be used on anyone.

QUIT YOUR COMPLAINING YOU PANZIES!
I actually never found it to be painful and ive donated several times, half the time they are done before i know it. Anywayz the worst part isnt when they put the needle in your arm, the worst part is when the nurse ties your arm with that yellow rubberband like theres no tommorrow. WTF is she thinking!? But hey I'm a man so no complaining here! I'm not even sure what blood type I am... I think im "A"... yea but if your O, go donate, youll be doing the rite thing. Especially with the shortage of blood by the red cross a little pain from you goes a long way.

I would in an emergency, but have not thus far because I have an irrational fear of needles. I would not make a good diabetic.
