Do you guys live with your parents still?
^ Absolutely true. There is a huge cultural component that is often overlooked. Which is understandable, since we all live in an American society that values independence. But the old ways often die hard. I cannot speak for other cultures, but being Chinese, I can say that for many Asian cultures, it is not unusual for several generations of a family to live under the same roof for a long time. The parents will take care of their children until adulthood, and once the parents retire, the children will take care of them.
That having been said, I personally grew up in the USA, and I like the independence bit. I'm staying with the parents jut long enough to finish off my grad degree without going into major debt, and then I'm moving out immediately. That, IMO, is nothing to be ashamed of.
