Does anyone on this board own an exotic car?
Scot, you are right about a 308 getting smoked by some pretty humble competition, but keep in mind that while cars have gotten more capable, that does not necessarily mean they have gotten more fun. If anything, the opposite is true - the higher a car's limits, the less you will be able to reach those limits and enjoy the car's true nature.
There's an old saying: it is more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow.

it is a passion.... yes, it costs money, yes other cars are faster. they are still a blast to drive. after that sti smokes the 308, bet most people wander over to talk/console the loser and look at that car.
i work for a computer networking company, before that 20 years in the USMC. so i have a nice 13k annual retirement income (makes up for the crappy pay while on active duty) plus about 100k annual salary. at one point 1 was negative enough money in the market to payoff both the car and the house, but that is slowly coming back so i should be able to afford the maintenance/insurance without any problems.
i have 3 speeding tickets (on the honda!) so the specialty companies will not insure. am paying about 9k for both cars with progressive, would have been a little cheaper had i stayed in Va, people in WV like going to court, so costs are a little higher. 2 tickets go way in may, that would have dropped insurance to about 3500 with the 360 at leland west and the s2k on my house policy with nationwide. not sure what will happen now with specialty company with the wrecked s2k back in december. when i was researching before nevere asked about 1 accident + 1 ticket... am almost afraid to now.
testarossas are flat 12. have not really looked at prices on them, but figure 43-79k for a testarossa, 64-107 for a 512tr and 79-132 for a 512M

matters not where it is registered, matters where it is parked/driven. same goes for property tax around here, does not even have to be registered, if it is parked in the garage, you pay the state.
maybe i could get policy a little cheaper by claiming it was somewhere else, but if something happens, would hate for the insurance company not to pay off policy because i lied to them.
let this be another lesson to all the young guns,
fast=fun
tickets=bummer
