Rich, I believe they were FWD but there may have been an AWD version. I'm not sure about the AWD.

I had an 89 and it was FWD. Btw, that engine, the 4AG-E is the same as in the NA Gen1 MR2.

I believe '85 was the first year it was DOHC and last year it was RWD. Either '85 or '86, but not '89+ that's for sure. I'm pretty sure it's '85 that was the year.
