Default Dog humping problem

I have a five year old cocker spaniel. In the past two years he's been getting very sexually aggressive. Basically he's constantly humping everything, and he always has a bonner.

He's getting neutered today, and I'm hoping that will fix the problem. I really feel bad about him getting neutered, but I hope it will be good for him.

I read this title the wrong way and was ready to tell you to make a concious decision to not hump the dog!!!!

Chopping the kids off should do the trick.

in my experience, cutting off the nuts does not always solve the problem. my advice, let em hump and treat it as a massage.

he doesn't hump people really, just his pillows, toys, and other dogs. It's just to excessive, an occasional hump or two would be fine.

Any time I see him, he's got a bonner. It's just disgusting, and improper around family and guests.

^ why? it's a dog. they get excited. they pop lipsticks. wanna know disgusting? disgusting is when your neutered golden retriever's pen0r is so engorged in your unneutered st. bernard's twat that he can't pull himself out. and hence the two were walking around like siamese twins.

but +1 on the nuts on the block. he'll stop humping. and if he still does, you fill a coke can full of pennies, tape up the top. anytime he starts to hump stuff, throw the can hard at the ground near him. it'll scare the crap out of him, and after a few times, he should chill out.

It sounds like he needs some obedience school. Sexual agression towards inanimate objects points toward insecurity and needing to feel dominant over something. If he has something else to occupy his time (such as playing with other dogs, going on walks, or chew toys) the behavior should stop. However, the neuter is the way to go (should have done this when he was 6 months old, though).
