Well, I can't say I'm the least bit surprised. USA Basketball built a marketing machine, rather than a competitive team. Also, I hope that some of the stars who turned down the Olympics (siting security concerns, or "personal" issues) take note of the results.

After A.I. and Bron Bron's late arrival to a lead-up game, A.I.'s attitude about having to show up to games/practice on time, and everyone elses general attitude towards playing the international game, it really became obvious that the team was completely unprepared.

In my opinion, the next U.S. Basketball team should consist of guys who both want to play AND intend to play/practice hard. The sense of entitlement is just kind of sad. . .

Not really surprised they were out. Thier lost in the prelims was actually a prelude to their competitiveness.

They still should have won. I say they drop this professional demeanor, and flat out play DIRTY in future international events. Trash talk against anyone at anytime. Knee any defenders who try to block your lane. The rest of the world wants the USA to lose in everything and not just in sports. The USA should employ a "no more Mr. Nice Guy" attitude. I hated seeing their opponents celebrate in fervor after winning the game, and the crowd cheering in explicit foreign chants. Team USA does not represent a sport; it represents an advent of American success, dominance, and pride that every anti-American wants to see crumble.

I believe they didn't suck a$$. They just didn't have enough time to cohesively play together. It's not a matter of pride or a lack thereof. Sure, their salaries are stratospherically high compared to their global counterparts, but most of these guys have spent their whole lives playing this game. Oh well, 2008 will see the return of Team USA.
