Default Driving the competition

Well I was bored and decided to go check out the competition.

So I went to the BMW dealer and took out a used (10k miles) (didn't want to beat the piss outta a new car) 2000 M Roadster.

Took the wife with me (she wanted me to get the M instead of the s2k originally)

Started her up...exhaust sounds nicer at low revs then the stook deep and mean. Waiting till it was warm and hit the highway bang first car to the red...hit the limiter, bang second...rev to the red, bang third rev to the red. The torque was nice but this motor has no high end pull like the s2k. took an 20mph exit ramp at 70mph and was very impressed with the planted nature of the handling. This is a car that you can get right in and drive it at 9/10's. The s2k on the other hand will bite if you are not used to it.
Hit some side roads and practiced launching 5000rpms TRAC off tires up in smoke I LOVE IT!!!! wish the stook could do that. Hit the limiter in first and second again 7000rpms is to soon to shift

Overall I like the fact of how easy the M is to drive fast, and tail stays firmly planted even if you do real stupid stuff. It has nice low end and excellent midrange.

The dealer wanted $39,000 for this one. good luck

As soon as I got back in the s2k I knew I had made the right choice!

I think it would have been fun to drive and compare. I'd like to do that.

I agree that the S2K is the way to go! I do like those M coupes though... Mmm, beautiful.

Argetni,

Haha...I did the same thing...

I felt that the 1st gear pulled pretty hard, but the rest of the gears didn't pull to my satisfaction.

I can't say that my feeling will be the same for the new M Roadster!

im with knowledge, i like the M coupe. most think it is ugly, but you get the practicality of a hatchback and the performance to boot. only downside is the new 01' with the stronger motor.
