Reminds me of a time at a B&B in Vermont, I was the only boarder there the others were "seeing the country"

i must be the only person here who's never stayed in a B&B...

On the flip side the breakfast was really good.
i've had the most amazing blintz in a 'log cabin' in Itasca, NY. that particular locale also had natural sulfur spring water which was piped into every room as well as the in-room jacuzzi. i also met this 150 st. bernard and fell in love w/ the breed. now i have a 1 year old st. bernie female pup who's just amazingly fun and springy.
it really depends on the size/management of B&Bs. certain B&Bs are so huge (think a dozen rooms, etc.) that essentially you are staying in a motel, except with really nice furnishing and excellent breakfasts. as far as strangers, you don't HAVE to talk to them. you don't even see 'em much at breakfast. treat the breakfast as if you're at a continental breakfast buffet. in the same token, treat the hostess as a really friendly concierge staff.

You will find a varied crowd at B & Bs. I stay in them whenever possible. (Always have own bathroom though). Last time was October in South Carolina. There was a couple there in their early 20s and others in their 60s. But you meet as lot of interesting people. Might even learn something.
Cyber, where are you going that you are considering a B&B?

We stayed in one the night of our wedding. We were tired and went right to sleep. The best man, his "date" & her friend kept us up most of the night.
...sweet I gotta go to a bed and breakfast
j/k...
