Default Ear ringing

I read on the web somewhere that when your ear rings constantly it's called Tennitis (sp?), and some sites say that's sign that you're about to have a stroke or something serious.

I've been having ringing noise in my ears for the past few weeks on and off, and it's always a constant buzz when it comes. Any suggestion on how to get rid of it or what might be wrong?

Go to the doctor? I've never heard about the ringing noises as a pre-cursor to a stroke, but I do recall hearing that whenever you hear a ringing in your ear, it's actually the tiny hairs along your ear canal dying. The more it happens, the more you lose your overall hearing. If anyone can verify this, that'd be great.

Maybe you have water up in your ear canal? I think that can cause a ringing. I'd have a doctor check it out.

If you had water in your middle or inner ear, you'd hear sloshing and feel discomfort. Go to an ear, nose, and throat specialist, Richard. I can recommend a good one, but he's in La Canada.

It's someone at the door who's probably very peeved by now...

Joking aside, it could also mean that you're just losing some hearing either due to age or some other factor which is pointless trying to figure out on your own. Go see a specialist.

I get it when I get allergies, you probably have nothing serious going on. One of the triggers could be an ear infection or a sinus infection...have a stuffy nose too?

When the fluid builds up behind your ear, it can throw off the pressure norm and make your ear ring.

Ringing in the ears can be caused by many things, some of no consequence, some of serious consequence. It could be caused by meds, dehydration, a tumor on the auditory nerve, high blood pressure, lack of sex, etc.

You should take this seriously and have it checked out.

My parents say if your ear rings.. it's cause someone's talking about you... Oh and it depends on what ear... right is they are talking something good about you... left is something bad! LOL.

Just thought you might like a chuckle.
