Default Ebay question-

hey guys, i saw the new nextel phone on ebay (motorola i730) for rather cheap. the dude that's selling it has an aol account- and through emails we closed on 3 phones for 600 shipped.
my question is- is there any way of me guaranteeing that he gets the money and i get the merchandise?
i know i can do COD or what not, but i wanna make sure i'm not getting a box of rocks, but a box w/a new cellphone that actually works!
any advice?

Trust seems to be the only option right now.

Of course if you do get the ol' box-o-rocks, you can report them to ebay. Not sure how much that'll do, but it's always an option.

Seriously, look into a very reputable escrow service. It's your best bet unless you can part with $600 on the off-chance that things might get screwed.

Escrow service holds the cash until deal is satisfactorily finalised (goods are delivered). Use only an escrow service reccommended by eBay as there have been numerous cases of escrow service scams being setup before.

ebay has their own certified escrow service. go with that one.

look here:

i asked the guy if he'd be okay w/using the escrow service and he said that he's been ripped off by them before.
he claims i can take the phones he delivered- and package the box up w/some rocks and send it back to him, then escrow gives me back my money- i get his phones, i get to keep my money and he gets rocks in the hand... is that possible?
