Yep. If he'll send COD that should afford you reasonable protection. I'd be checking the box contents and items out before letting the courier leave my premises though. Whether he'll let you check it out before signing for it is another matter.

In the meantime why not email some of his other buyers from previous auctions and ask how their transactions went?

Just because he doesn't accept escrow doesn't mean he's dodgy. Some people also resent paying commissions to PayPal. However he does have a very low feedback rating and there does seem to be a level of uncertainty present between you both.

You can't report infringements to eBay if you do the deal privately BTW.

If it was me I wouldn't do the deal unless the guy had a 'real' email account that I could trace or was a well-established eBay vendor.

hey muz, i asked him to do COD and he said that it's possible to cancel a money order- soin other words- he's affraid i'd cancel the money order on him some how- he just seems shady.
he's email account is at aol.com- does that count as "real"??

Sounds like the guy was making the whole thing more trouble than it's worth anyway.

Fortunately I have had nothing but smooth transactions with eBay buyers to date.
