ethical dilemma
Who is the "good"person??
Mister A:
Mister A has a busy life. He volunteers and goes to homeless shelters every morning to feed families. He started a scholarship foundation for inner city kids so they have a chance to go to college. He raises money and manages events to help local hospitals. Everyone loves him except his kids and his wife. His refuses to give them money for clothes and food. His wife and children wear rags and eat only what grows on their farm. When his wife and children make money from selling crops he takes their money. He gives the money to bums that sleep in the streets in other countries. He doesn't want his family to feel spoiled.
Mister B:
Mister B doesn't have a busy life. He doesn't volunteer or give money away. He doesn't have any world wide influence. He stays home and reads the Bible. He prays and goes on nature hikes. He is a vegetarian and has a garden. He refuses to buy or ride in a car, and instead rides a bicycle even for long trips. Most of the things in his home are made of recycled items that he collects. When he finds a stray cat or dog he takes care of them.

In my opinion, Mister B. Although Mister A is helping out a multitude of people, he is punishing his own family. That is very selfish and just shows that he is not putting his loved ones first. Family should always come first, and whatever is left over can be given to help the helpless.
Mister B, on the other hand lives a selfless life, always thinking about the good of the people or animals around him. I think that purity of thinking is better than the twisted idea of "good" Mister A has, no matter how many people he helps.
Mi dos centavos!!

Mr. A sounds like he wants people who don't know him to think he's a good guy. I know someone like that and he's a real asshole to his own family. His parents should have used a condom.
Mr. B sounds like the uni-bomber, Ted Kawhateverhisnameis. He's not a realist at all and while he may be a nice guy he's lost in a pointless life. His parents should have practiced oral sex only.

Thanks for everyone's responses. No answer is wrong or right. I just wanted to let you guys and gals ponder the meaning of "a good human being" based on examples. Mister A is an example of a man that is so passionate about being good that he he forces his good intentions on everyone else. Mister B is an example of a man that thinks that he can only be good in isolation. The general definition of "a good person" is different depending on different cultures. It just shows that we can never know everything and we have to keep learning.
You need to make a "none of the above" choice. I definitely would not pick Mr. A
I have a few complaints on Mr. B Why not eat animals since the world made them for him? Why would he risk keeping a stray animal?-it might have rabies, the animals would grow large in the future and eat Mr. B up for food, and the animals might turn rogue and torture each other because of the rabies
I'm sorry but I think tree huggers, etc. should get a life. There are many reports on tree huggers dying from falling off a tree or getting smashed by a falling tree.
