Yes, this is quite a serious security and privacy control related issue. As it is still considered quite profoundly unknown in the general net population, major anti-virus and digital/electronic security corporations are working together with software production corporations to address this issue. Nevertheless, don't believe everything you see. Download anything you don't trust and freeware most of the time these days isn't as simple as it was maybe 5 years ago. This is just a few common pointers to be aware of to prevent security and privacy breach.

You touch here on the point that I made above, that no one has commented on. How do you know that lavasoft is safe? Anything that you download from the internet is potentially unsafe...

Great utility. It can run unattended, so our IT will be sending it out company - wide. If any of you remember that "Yo mama osama" game, it installs adware with the game, some stupid thing called wnad. I guess that game is pretty popular, cause the day Norton added wnad to its virus definitions our helpdesk got flooded with virus calls. Anyway, Ad-Aware cleans that crap up. Another note: just because you downloaded the latest Ad-Aware, the latest signature files are not packeged with it, you need to get them separately (from the same website). Just overwrite the file that's already there.

S2000 forum is work related after all...

Hey, I got the same text garbage when trying to get on the site. I downloaded the Ad-Aware software, ran a scan and came up clean! Go figure

Thanks for the info though. You never know where the Trojans are hiding!

That's interesting Clive. Lately I've noticed a lot of pop-up ads that just show up on my desktop. Maybe I have some spyware programs on my machine. I'm going to download the software and check. Thanks for the heads up.
