Ask yourself why you want to contact him. Why is it important to you? Ask yourself from his perspective why he would want to talk with you.

Part of the reactionary response that you are getting is because we don't believe any good can come from this. The other part is there is no reason to think that you are going to find a valuable answer from a bunch of strangers.

I say it depends on the reason you broke up in the first place. If it was on good terms..... why not contact him if you know where he is.

I often think about my ex's and where they are today.

Some people could be great together but the timing is sometimes wrong and it just doesn't work out.

If it's to tie up loose ends and your intensions are genuine, then I would do it. Only you know your X and how he would respond to you.

Keep your contact minimum and I wouldn't persue any face to face time because of the reasons already discussed about your current situation.
