thanks for all the advice and suggestions everyone. I ended up ordering the chocolate bar gift set from vosges:

they sound really interesting so I figure...why not? however, I'll definitely check out some of the different chocolate bars you guys suggested from trader joes, whole foods, gelsons, etc. as a matter of fact, I read somewhere that the vosges bars i just bought are available at whole foods market so if any of you are interested in trying them (instead of ordering a bunch of stuff from their website) you might want to check out your local whole foods. post back here with a review if you do try them!
The packaging looks really nice, give us a review after you/your girl tries it!

the chololate I eat has to be bitter and not too sweet and its quality has to be at the par with the chocolate queen elizabeth eats.

While we're on the subject of gifts for girlfriends...any other ideas? She loves small geeky gifts and we've decided we're not going to spend too much money on each other since we're headed to europe this summer.
for some reason my wife REALLY wants the GoSmile toothpaste five pack at Sephora.com.

It comes with five differnt flavors of toothpaste including lemonade and some others. Why she is so exited about it I don't know but she absolutely LOVES personal product like cosmetics, lotions and the like, and she loves anything from Sephora.
