Just throw it in the trash if you don't want to go!
They cannot prove that you received it! [Must have got lost by the U.S. Mail!]
Cannot comment in fear of bad karma...

Masachusetts has a one day/one trial policy with call-ups aout every three years. I work for the Commonwealth which pays me my regular salary for the day, though I can't claim any cash from the court. Every time I've been called, I had a nice day reading a book in a reaonably comfortable setting and got home earlier than if I'd had to work.

Now, if you can get someone to wite a letter to the court on state letterhead indicating you are too mentally retarded to serve on a jury, you might get out of it. However, as the nuns used to say, it will be part of your permanenet record and there's no telling what repercussions that could hold. One that comes to mind is spending some quality time, sans with Bubba as his close, personal friend in the county country club for several months for fraud.

Bitchin' about and trying to get out of it gave CA the jury that aquitted OJ. Buck up and do your civic duty.

i just received another one in the mail today. this is my 3rd one within the past 4 years. i used to never get them, but all of a sudden i'm getting them about once a year. is this common for the rest of the population??
I served once. Interesting thing is 1/2 through the case I remembered I once knew the defendant when I worked as a grocery clerk in my teenage years. It was a drunk driving case and I knew the guy because he would buy Milwakees(sp???) best all the time. I didn't tell the judge but I don't think it swayed the way I voted. There was one hold out. Not sure what he was trying to prove, all of us agreed and just wanted to go home. Because of his ass we needed to stay a couple more days.

don't get me wrong, guys. i don't mind doing my civic duties every so often, but it's the frequency i am being summoned that is annoying me.

They don't care. Excuses like that don't work. What you will most likely get is fines and possibly jail time. At the least you'll waste time fighting the fines and jail time. I wouldn't go that route.

Jury Duty is a pain, but its one of those things that you just gotta do. Luckily ive been excused all the times that ive had to go.

I've never much enjoyed being summoned for jury duty, but thankfully my appearance seems to instantly exclude me from actually being on the jury... For some reason, they don't seem to think that a guy that has a 10" long mohawk is qualified to serve as a juror. That is pretty much the only time I am more than happy to go along with that supposition! Have to love biased "normal" people!
