I think, since he just fcked that up...

He'll be flying a cargo plane full of rubber dog shit out of Hong Kong now

Also, I wanted to be a Naval Aviator. Then my dreams were crushed when I found out I couldn't be colorblind. While, you can be a naval aviator AND be color blind, it doesn't happen often, and you have to pass a night flying test, as well as distinguish between the colored shirts on the deck of the carriers.. and I couldn't/can't. Boo.

Understandable but isn't a big rule of thumb in ANYTHING you do, particularly things that require precision and focus - Racing, flying, etc - not to get cocky? I figure it leads to mistakes.
Stereotypes and generalizations. The pilots I worked with let off steam now and then, but were thoroughly professional and very respectful of all the people they worked with, many of whom the pilots lives literally depended on. You've been watching too much Topgun.

Never even seen the entire movie - just bits and pieces on TV.

Talk to some maintainers - the guys you mentioned who keep these things running - and get their take. Im sure they'll echo the appreciation and respect given to them by their pilots..

The pilots that I talked to at the shows don't seem to be all that cocky. Just professional. Maybe they know the ground crews can have a few loose bolts "by accident" if they don't like you .

I worked with a guy who, in a former life, maintained fighter jets for the Marines. When one of the pilots had to use an ejection seat (successfully), a group of pilots bought a keg for a group of technicians to show their appreciation.

Now, the reason I USED TO work with this guy is that he was accepted into a pilot program with the Air Force. He got a BS in Aeronautical Engineering because he figured it would increase his chances of becoming a pilot.

Your favorite scene is probably either the volleyball scene or the lockerroom scenes.

Actually, when I was younger (around 7 or so) my friend and I would take binoculars to the sex scene between Maverick and Charlie and see if we could get a better glimpse. Never worked .

My SECOND favorite scene is defo when he's washing his face off after he kills goose though
