The F-15 and F-16 are still two of the world's most capable fighters. The difference is really the stealth and supercruise (flying supersonic w/o afterburner) capability of the F-22. Probably 9 times out of 10 (or more) the Raptors are getting kills from over the horizon shots where the adversary never even knows someone else is there. They just can't even see the F-22. And if they do manage to get into dogfighting range, the Raptor can get away relatively easily due to its speed advantage.

So, while the Eurofighter and Su-37 are extremely formidable and maneuverable airframes (and arguably MORE maneuverable than the F-22), they still don't hold a candle to the F-22 for the exact same reasons the F-15 and F-16 get slaughtered by it. And the F-117, despite the "F", is not a fighter at all...it only carried laser-guided bombs.

 

I personally dont like the American Fighter or war planes all that much anymore. Dont get me wrong they are kick ass but when i look at capable planes that can do far crazier manuvers and have far better capabuilites in my eyes i look right at Su-37 fighters. Both the ground attack plane and the air to air combat with the foward swept wings. They are truly amazing planes. Try searching youtube for videos of them.

 

The best advantage for the F-22 is its radar,stealth and armament which all equates to it sniping you from a distance w/o out the bad guys knowing you are even there.

Now using WWII type engagments (close air to air combat) with machine guns only, I would like to see it handle a Su-37.

 

Talking about this makes me what to go play Ace combat 4 for PS2....

F-22 holds fewer than 500 rounds, so it would probably suck in a dogfight.
