i'm sorry. that statement is just naive and insulting. from what i remember, i think you are under 21, so i'll forgive you for that statement. the bottom line is that if you haven't lived the "older" and more "mature" life, then how can you talk about it?? it's just like i can't talk about being a middled aged person or a senior citizen, cuz i haven't lived that part of my life yet, and so i have no first hand experience.
well i am under 25, i am not a rocket scientist, but from what i can see senior citizens dont have much fun. you do not have to live a mature life to be able to understand that it may not be more fun. u simply have to open your eyes and watch them. or open your ears and listen to them. if you asked a seniour citizen or even middle age person if they could choose and age to return to, guess what age they would pick? my naive self would venture to say under 30 almost every time. however, i guess i can see why being 35 would be great if u were unmarried. you would just have boatloads of disposable income (i can only imagine 10+ years worth).

I would probably become those people on youtube who makes dumb videos that make people go "man that guy has too much free time on his hands" because you know what, damn straight I have too much free time on my hands.

seriously, I would probably audition at every reality show casting call I could find

okay, instead of calling people names, maybe YOU can share with us what your $100K/yr fantasy life would be so that the thread can get back on track.

well, i am 25. i would probably spend the next few years traveling. no mortgage, no kids, or anything like that. i'd definitely do the things i like most, travel and music. that'd be so sweet to have a beach house somewhere on the coast or something in asia or europe, and maybe a recording studio or something. you could easily do that for $100k/year. just depends on how much luxury you need.

again, read my post within the context of the discussion. dyhappy was claiming that older and more "mature" individuals choose to burden themselves with more responsibilities and expenses, such as an expensive mortgage, kids, private schools, fancy hotels and expensive food and booze, and that all those are unnecessary. but has it occurred to anyone that maybe those responsibilities are not burdens to many of the people who choose to assume those responsibilities, and that is is just part of achieving their goals and dreams?? i mean, is it really wrong for a person to desire a nice house for his family, and raise a couple of kids they love and provide them with a good education?? also, does splurging on oneself with expensive vacations and material possessions necessarily mean that they are using those as distraction to mask their sucky lives?? is it not possible that these people genuinely enjoy these things for what they are?? i mean, we all drive s2ks here instead of honda civics. would it be fair to say that we are masking our sucky lives by buying a more expensive and sporty vehicle?? the point i was trying to make is that if you haven't been confronted with those dilemmas to assume those responsibilites, then it's really not fair to comment on whether or not those choices are necessarily advantageous or disadvantageous to their overall happiness. these are things that one cannot merely visually observe, much like there are things that a senior citizen perceives and feels that we cannot visually see ourselves, and even if they tell us about it, we may still not fully understand and/or grasp their perceptions and experiences, because we've never been in their positions.

^ you do have a point, but while people talk about chasing their dreams of the house and kids, they also sound like they were fooled into it. like they thought it was gonna be so cool, but when they got there, it turned out to be years of terror and being chained down.

i was also confused cuz the way u said it, it sounded like u were "burdened" by the things that the "mature-ness" brought to you. now you're saying that you want those things cuz they are your dream, so it's kinda contradictory. if someone really wants that stuff, then they shouldn't be able to complain about it. but i often hear people complain about it.

it can be argued that everything is done to cover up a sucky life, but you were specifically talking about high price one time things like expensive hotels. something that is cheap and lasts a long time is more credible since it can define one's existence as opposed to being a blip on the radar.

secondly, if you really feel college is the best years of your life, then i feel sorry for you.
why would you feel sorry for me??? i wouldn't say that i think my college years are going to be the best years of my life (though they have been pretty effing sweet IMO), but even if i did, i don't understand why you'd feel sorry for me? i think i'm actually really looking forward to being 50+, retired & accomplished, traveling with my soulmate.

judging by the comment, and some of your other comments, you seem to think that there is ONE right way to live life... when the truth of the matter is that there is NO right way to live life.

i think the question begging to be asked is: what exactly is it that you require in your life to make you happy, that would be impossible to have if you ONLY made $100,000/year?
