Default Favorite App for Android-based phones

I just ordered my first smart phone, the HTC Hero through sprint, and it uses the Android platform. Seems like everyone is sharing what apps they love on an Iphone but no one is talking about all the great Android Apps they have found. So what are they?

what you people talking about, the Android software is awesome. Plus you don't have to belong to a crappy service like Itunes to get our apps.

Probably because there's like 3 apps for android phones and 9,888,999 for the iPhone. I think the Android platform has great potential and will be a strong alternative in another year or so for people that are 'Apple-phobic' or for whatever reason don't want to to go with the obvious choice. I'd say a fair amount of iPhone are 'jailbroken' and are not limited to iTunes/appStore purchases but you don't 'have to belong to iTunes'...and btw, iTunes is free and is setting the bar in the market in the place for this niche. The Zune is a great MP3 player but not quite an iPod...do you have one of those too?

The Hero is a great phone and the android os is actually wonderful to use and has a ton of great apps for it.

The place to go to get all the best info on apps and such for is the forums on http://www.androidcentral.com/

The number of android apps is skyrocketing.. over 20,000 now. do a search for solitaire on the iphone market.. that should put the "100,000 app" claim in perspective a little better.

a few cool android apps:
Nesoid (nes emulator)
Snesoid (snes emulator)
Layar
Pandora
Shazam
Sports Tap

Now let me go stream pandora while google navigation directs me to the nearest whore house.

plus on my android phone, i can make calls

iphone is an incredible piece of hardware, much slicker than anything else on the market....but you can only use it on a network with spotty coverage. until it comes to other networks, you're better off with a star-tac and an ipod touch
