Favorite App for Android-based phones

Probably because there's like 3 apps for android phones and 9,888,999 for the iPhone. I think the Android platform has great potential and will be a strong alternative in another year or so for people that are 'Apple-phobic' or for whatever reason don't want to to go with the obvious choice. I'd say a fair amount of iPhone are 'jailbroken' and are not limited to iTunes/appStore purchases but you don't 'have to belong to iTunes'...and btw, iTunes is free and is setting the bar in the market in the place for this niche. The Zune is a great MP3 player but not quite an iPod...do you have one of those too?
android is a true open source platform.

plus on my android phone, i can make calls
iphone is an incredible piece of hardware, much slicker than anything else on the market....but you can only use it on a network with spotty coverage. until it comes to other networks, you're better off with a star-tac and an ipod touch

cause everything that dont... droid does sucks
anyone competent person will be able to acknowledge both are great OS's. and also that apple doesn't stand alone at the top anymore. More importantly, the release of Android on verizon and new Google phones with great technology is only going to make the market place more competitive.
how has apple updated the its phone over the last few years? it added a camera...something it should have add from the start. but it didn't matter because everyone still wanted one. now with some legitamate competition, i think the next iphone is going to have some great advancements for its next model.
i like the iphone, but it is on a terrible network. all the tech stuff is cool...but what's the point if you can't make a damn call! If verizon got the iphone i would have got one.
but truthfully, the droid can do just about everything the iphone can do and the hero/eris can do most of what the iphone can do. and after using both, i prefer my droid and won't be switching once the iphone comes to verizon. I may upgrade to the nexus one though...i'm pretty sold on google.
the only thing i would say the iphone does better than the droid is music management. but then again i never save much music on the phone, and i just use pandora anyways.
what is awesome though on the droid you wont get on the iphone is the free google maps and verizon voice gps system. spectacular.
Android 2.1 has an improved music app with a better UI..
iPhone is great, no one can deny that. It's got that "smoothness" factor that Android can't match with its java runtime (YET.. it has been tweaked by experts to run much faster), and everything just seems to work all the time. A few force closes show their face every now and then on Android phones..

Why would you want your android to look like an Iphone? That's just dumb. Iphone is what it is, but it's not better than android. After using my droid for the past few months I could never go back to the Apple OS. It's just too limiting. I have an apple Itouch that I have literally not turned on since the day I got my droid.
1-2 months flash will come out for android and this duscussion won't even be a contest.
I just took a 700 mile trip. I had google navigation running in the background while I ran movies up front. I had multiple SD cards with multiple movies on them depending on what we wanted to watch. If the navigation needed to notify me, it did so without closing out the movie. I could also play games, surf, do anything without closing anything. I can leave things open and come back to them later. I couldn't even have streamed something like TV.com on AT&Ts network because their 3g coverage is so sh*tty.
I guess you could jailbreak your iphone and void your warranty but guess what? I don't have to and I can root my droid and run it at 1ghz comfortably, nearly doubling the speed of the iphone.
Can you even run anything that apple doesn't want you to? 95% of the apps on the app store are crap.
can you p2p even on a jail broken iphone?
You can on android, get the app Imusic.
Iheartradio streams local radio stations (not xm) over the web allowing your to catch your favorite baseball team 1000 miles away.
tv.com streams TV over 3g. Flash will allow you to view which ever TV show you desire from the network's website and verizon's 3g network coverage will allow you to watch these shows just about anywhere an interstate will take you.
Android has a lot going for it and even the most (well, some) hardended apple fanboys realize this.
Also check out Winmo 7. It's looking pretty good; making the Iphone OS look like the dinosaur that it is.
