Miller Light is yum yum....................best beer on the planet.

Joke. This reminded me about a time a younger co-worker once asked my what I thought about Coors light. I told him it was piss water. The next day he said he was almost killed when partying with some rednecks and repeated what I said when they offered him some Coors. Poor guy, I should have gave him a disclosure about such things.

How did you find it at a grocery store? It has no label and is not sold for export anywhere in the world and has no US distributors. I had to order it from Belgiam and pass it through customs. Took almost two months to get here by air!

You have one hell of a stockist if he went through all that just to get a case for himself!
I managed to get lucky and found it at an organic farmer's market in Austin, grocery store was an inappropriate description, which has an uncanny beer garden/market that happens to stock hard to find trappists. Apparently the guy that does the ordering is a huge Belgian fan and ordered a few cases from a store in Virginia that sells it with regularity. I was shocked when I found it myself because it indeed does not have a label and I had to ask what it was. They haven't had the Westvleteren 12 in months but regularly carry Westmalle and Trappistes Rochefort so I can't complain.

I don't.

I'll ask Kenny Hollingshead (see earlier posts) about it.

Lets see, my list might be quite long....
Sorry if this post is Long- But as you can tell I LOVE BEER.....Has some good suggustions!

1) Paulamer Kwak (Belgian) 10.5%
2) Duvel (Belgian)
3) Chimay Grand Crue & Triple -"Blue & White labels" (Belgian)
4) Delirium Tremons(Belgian) Delirium Noel around the holidays
5) Dekonik (Belgian) Beer of ANTWERP
6) New Castle (English)
7) Bass (English)
8) Sierra Nevada (USA)
9) Fat Tire (New Belgium Brewery Colorado)
10) 1664 (French)
11) Flying Dog-Doggie Style IPA (USA)
12) Murphy's Irish Red (Irish)
13) Grolsch (Netherlands)
14) RedHook IPA (USA)
15) Hieniken (Netherlands)
16) Guiness (Irish)
17) Rednectar (Humbolt CA)

That list is somewhat top to bottom, but a lot also depends in what kinda mood i am in. However, I studied in Antwerp Belgium for 4 months 2 years ago and I was spoiled beyond belief. I left drinking not much more then Budweiser and Natty lite. Came back a Beer snob. Great for my taste buds, bad on my wallet. I will say the Belgian's make some of the best brews in the world.

In response to a few people who are having trouble finding some of the Belgium Beers; There are a few online distributors, however, ordering from them can be expensive due to shipping cost.

I live in VA and the mega store Total Wine (Used to be Total Beverage) has a pretty decent selection. Duvel, Chimay, Delirium, Westmalle, La Chouf. If you have a nice wine store around you that sells premium beers ask them. The shop around the coner from my place sells Chimay and Duvel, and can special order. Check gourmet shops too.

Finally for any Beer lovers...... Check out these bars.

Washington DC. The Brickskeller - Beers from all over the world.... They have the Guineas record for most beers offered at a bar! OVER 1000! http://www.thebrickskeller.com/

Philly- The Monks Cafe The ultimate Belgian Beer Lovers bar. Complimented by excellent belgian food. This guy is one of the first importers of belgian premium beers to the states. He knows whats up. http://www.monkscafe.com/

Richmond VA- The capital Ale house (One on West End and one Downtown) They have over 200 botels 40 drafts (Downtown) and 70 (Westend). If your tying to taste something new a good spot. http://www.capitalalehouse.com/

Caffrey's Shame you can't get it in the US (to my knowledge, anyway), definitely one of things I miss since moving here from London.
