February 14th = Day of the Damned
I don't care for it either.
To me, its another example of the strategies large corporations use to extort money from us. They already created Mother's day, Father's day, Grandparents day, etc etc. I feel that if you love somebody, u don't need a "special day" to celebrate it. You should celebrate your love every day of the year.
Obviously they(the companies) didn't want to hit us up for more money in January- its to close to christmas. So, they wait a month and come up with this lame a$$ V-day.

I don't understand you guys...SO negative.
Of course, I'm of the feminine persuasion, so that may explain an lot, but to me, Valentine's Day is a sweet, warm little day in the middle of an otherwise cold, dreary month. It's just a day to do a little something for those you care about. You don't have to have a g/f, b/f, husband or wife to enjoy it. It's fun to send a valentine to a close friend, Mom, sis, etc.
You don't need a big, expensive bouquet; a single flower and a Hershey bar will do it, if presented with heartfelt words. You'll probably even get that steak and BJ!
It would be nice if we expressed our feelings year-round, but a lot of people just don't. It's a nice little opportunity to be a bit sentimental. Just my $.02.

I think it's just another day, but for some, it's a day to tell a girl how you feel if you haven't told her in a while. I just treat it like another day. I don't want roses on Vday - I agree with Chix, it's something 'forced'...I'm not a roses person, anyway.
The guy I'm seeing has gotten me a single long stem rose twice so far, and I wasn't expecting it either time. I'd definitely rather have one rose than a dozen. But back on topic, most girls do expect to be romanced on that day - but the truth is, if you let a girl know year round how much you care about her and she feels that from you, then it will just be another day to her
