February 2009
So this is the month for the end of Analog TV.
Does this mean no more 4:3 size of broadcast and format? Is everything going to fill out my widescreen TV? I have been sick of watching widescreen with black bars outlining the side of my screen.
I can not wait.

you will be able to buy a converter box.
the mighty federal government has a coupon offer out there, 2 per household and they expire 90 days from when you get them. take them to a local vendor and get a discount on a converter box to continue to feed your getto tv. cheers.

Digital TV broadcast has NOTHING to do with HD TVD or 16:9 format.
You'll get the same ol' picture except it'll be broadcasted digitally. (Kinda like getting a standard def program over DirecTV or digital cable.)

a lot of people associate digital with HD, but incorrectly. HD is definitely digital, but digital is not necessarily HD

The government will make $20 billion in the selling of the previously inhabited analog frequency spectrum to companies for development, then turn around and spend $30 billion giving out free converters to the elderly and poor. God, I love this country.
