I need something that has more of a consultant type job description. A position that requires you to right the wrongs within a company.
That's what I do in a way. I work in finance, but my computer skills have landed me in a hybrid financial/software development role. I think the work is interesting and I have produced some real results.

Problem is, when you fix everything, people don't have problems anymore...it then gets boring and thankless until you move somewhere else. Also, many companies stick their "expendable" people in process improvement jobs, so sometimes I get lumped in with them.

You hit the nail on the head. That's EXACTLY what's happened to me.

what the hell is it exactly that you do? I have no idea what an Exec Dev does? is that computer related? Finance related?

You go into a company that is floundering? and do what?

Exec Dev is HR speak for Executive Development. I was into CBT development and creating our online campus. I was also in charge of our executive training program which introduced our recruits to financial modelling, stock projections and vendor negotiation.

The job became dull and monotonous once I completed the campus and achieved a #1 ranking for our training program within the industry.

I'd probably look ot get back into Exec Dev at another company that isn't quite setup with a formal program.
