Default How Did You Find Your Job?

I'm just curious how everybody found the job they are at. Was it set up after college, a random luck, found it online, you knew somebody....what field are you in etc. I'm thinking about trying to change job careers slowly or just do something. I'm not happy with things as are so I'm looking to possibly make a change.

The job im at now I got lucky and was an intern and was hired after college. The pay is kinda crappy but oh well. At least im working for now.

I got my job because I knew someone but the others Ive had were walk in. I always say that "Its not what you know but who you know" At least here in Miami is mostly like that.

Who you know gets you in the door these days, what you know gets you the job.

Well I got part of the job im working now my Sr. Year in highschool. I got it through co-op system and i worked as an assistant to the purchasing department. I still do although i have been graduated for over a year now and I also took on a 2nd position as quality and document control. So it was random luck and hard work from there which kept me here. Its great really flexable hours, $10/hr 40hrs a week so im making enough money to make the car note and have fun, and im taking part time college classes as well.

If you are looking to change careers, make sure you do a lot of research about it and even try to talk to people in that field to see what they think. For me, I also have to keep up with and improve on my skills since I am in IT.
It is true that "Who you know gets you in the door these days, what you know gets you the job." I'm currently looking to relocate back to Southern California, so I'm trying to network with headhunters and old college classmates, as well as search for jobs online at dice.com.

I got my job (concept designer for DreamWorks) through my instructor at Art School. He's a production designer here at work...

When I graduated, pre electric light days, could not find a job by using an employment agency. Resorted to knocking on doors and filling out an application or leaving my resume. After about two weeks got my first job at Nestle.
