Default Fight Science

Last night on the National Geographic Channel they broadcast "Fight Science", a scientific look at martial arts.

It was extremely interesting.

They had practitioners of Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Kung Fu, Jiu Jitsu, Drunken Boxing, Ninjitsu, and other arts.

They were using crash-test dummies, accelerometers, lasers, high-speed photography, pressure sensors, and so on.

The scientists and engineers were amazed at what these guys can do.

So were the fighters themselves.

If it repeats, don't miss it.

Great show. I saw it a few weeks ago and it really demystifies a lot of martial arts theories and concepts. The CGI in the show was pretty awesome too.

I agree, an amazing show. It was very impressive the way that the "contestants" had complete ownership over their specific style. They were all awesome and were very repspresentative of their respective style. I would have liked to have seen some form of comparison of one style against another. For instance, is there one particular style that would come out on top on a regular basis.
On the show it sounded like they would have picked ninjitsu just for their tendancy to not fight within rules.

Anyone take any of these martial arts and have any comments about which one is best?

Secondly, I've been thinking about taking a martial art, can anyone give me their experience with their specific style.

Thanks..

They were pretty clear that the Jiu Jitsu fighter had beaten the best in many, many other styles.
