also...its not how good the gun is so much , but how good the shooter is.
absolutely, always the case. just like cars and drivers
i can't use 1911s because i'm a lefty, and unless i go the real custom route there's nothing on the market for me that allows for ambidex. use of the 1911.
I've got an HS2000 (9mm) which is now called the Springfield XD. I bought it when they first came out a few years ago for $320 out the door w/tax and phone call. Great pistol and very accurate. I put a tactical light on it also. I'd like to save up for a Kimber pistol. They make some gorgious guns.

You'll get a lot of different advice but it depends on what your needs are. Home defense: go with a reliable handgun designed for lefties in a larger caliber: ie. 9mm Parabellum, .357SIG, .40SW, .45ACP. Maybe a Heckler & Koch USP 9mm in Variant 2 (left handed safety/decocker)? Or something with an ambidextrous slide release, like the P2000, also from HK. Can you tell I'm an HK fan?
Nice gun Young_R. Out of all the guns I've ever shot, I've shot your exact model almost as much as my own HK USP Compact because my shooting partner has one.
Another vote for the 357 Sig cartridge. I think that thing packs as much or more energy than the .45 and has much more capacity in a given size.
