Default first police encounter in S2K tonite.

Got stopped by the cops for blowing through a right turn on red. as usual, I got a warning.
IF you do the following, you'll usually get a warning too:

1. turn off engine
2. turn on interior light.
3. open driver window.
4. keep both hands on steering wheel.
5. wait for cop to approach vehicle.
6 never say "Is there a problem, officer?" (keep your mouth shut!)
7. Don't fumble around car looking for your registration (for all he knows, you're looking for your Glock 10mm)
8. Admit guilt to the infraction.

These simple steps have saved me 90% of the time from getting a ticket.

These are only my opinions, but I think it's better to leave the window up unless you are severely tinted. That way he doesn't see you rolling down the window and think you might be trying to shoot at him.

Also never admit guilt. If he wants to write you a ticket, he will regardless of what you say or do. Just let him. If he asks you why he pulled you over, just say you don't know. Let him tell you and just accept what he says with "OK". You can fight him later in court if necessary.

If you play dumb and act scared (not like freaking out) but honestly "OMG I got pulled over, oh crap" scared, they will often give you a warning.

I've been ignored and/or pulled over and given warnings 4 separate times where I SHOULD have gotten a ticket. I've also gotten a ticket and beat it in court.

When I've had the top down i've actually put my hands up on the top of the windshield. I haven't had them ask because I take my hands down when they walk up. No cop will ever fault you for making it brutally obvious that you want them to be comfortable. Most of them will recognize it and appreciate your effort to calm their nerves.

Park car, turn off engine, turn off music, hands on the wheel.

Couldn't disagree more w/ #8. Never admit guilt. Let them say what they are going to say, sign what you need and move on. Handle it in court.

#3 "Open driver window". Disagree again. In fact I handle my business through a 4" crack of the window.

Too many variables. Bottom line, it depends on the Cop and it depends on the driver. Get the right combo your golden, get the wrong combo and your getting a ticket regardless.

I usually do all of those except admitting guilt. No ticket so far.

The funniest encounter ive ever got from a cop had to be the time when before he said anything else, the first words out of his mouth were "Is this YOUR car?! " Mind you im 18 years old.

Being a Houston Police officer I can tell you this statement is what matters.

...and I'll be on the lookout for the girlfriend excuse too
