I have no problem honking my horn or flashing my brights at someone who needs to move over.

Hee hee hee. Well I got a story children......

About two weeks ago I was in a situation where someone about 3 cars ahead of me would not get out of the left lane. She was bein tailgated VERY aggressively by someone two cars ahead of me in a giant Tahoe. This went on for three miles in a 60 mph zone and the left lane hog was doing 45 next to a slow moving truck with no other traffic except for the slow moving oversize load in the right lane, exactly where he was supposed to be.

Anywho while this person tailgates her, she slows to forty five until the oversize load passes her, and everyone starts to get to the right lane to then slide by her, she guns it so no one can pass, passes the oversize load, and then lets off the gas again until the big truck is now ahead of her. She does this four times driving everyone crazy. After four miles of this, the oversize load truck exits and there is a jailbreak. She tries to race the tahoe for a while but gives up. I am about the third car to pass her on the right followed by several others, with myself and a few others flipping her the bird.

An hour later, while watching Oprah, the state patrol shows up at my house and gives me a ticket for "disorderly conduct" for "offending" the woman. He was going to hand out one to another motorist after me as well. Possible 90 days in jail and up to $1000 fine. It won't happen, I am sure they will drop the charges, the cop was just trying to be a pr*ck and it goes against every supreme court decision in the last 50 years.

But apparently where I live they don't go after the left lane hogs, they go after people who just want to get up to the speed limit.

As a side note, I have discovered that there is a small cottage industry of attorneys who are winning malicious prosecution suits against law enforcement officers who hand out tickets for flipping off another motorist when they know it is within a persons rights. I may do that, but I personally intend to tell the officer to go f himself if he shows up at trial. Thats been made legal by Lewis v City of New Orleans 1974 because my state statute still is not in compliance with this decision or Gooding v Wilson.

I say this is a good use of tax dollars. At least something productive is being done here that I can use on a daily basis. Im more than willing to pay $ to get stupid people off the road (or at least out of my way)

no no, i meant vader1's story. getting a ticket delivered to your door for flipping someone the bird, then having to fight it in court... wasting the court's time, wasting the cop's time... wasting everyone's time and money.

The people that particularly annoy me are the ones that enter the freeway and immediately move across 3 lanes to get into the passing lane, even though there is no traffic in front of them and they are not passing anyone. They just want to be able to get over there and "cruise".... likely while talking on their cell phone. Grr.

I have to say that I really like the way that Washington's law is written

That doesn't say that you can stay in the left lane if you're doing the speed limit, it says if you're impeding traffic in the left lane, regardless how fast they're going, GTFO.

Of course... that law would apply to me in some cases, because it isn't limited to freeways. On my commute to work, I have a tendency to get in the left lane of a multilane roadway (not a freeway, just a 3-lane road) several miles before I get to the place where I'm actually going to turn left, simply because traffic can back up and make it difficult to get into that lane at the last minute. Additionally, there have been occurrences where I am moving slower than the flow of traffic (even though I always do 45-48 in a 40mph). So, in that instance, I guess I'd be "left lane camping". Personally, if there are left turns or left exits on a roadway, I don't think the law above should apply.
