to 120 in 19.9? hmmmm, not sure about this one. I know they are fast but speeds over 85 with the aerodynamics like a brick? I have two friends with Lightnings and they are great - but they are not that great with the 0-120 as I remember. One of them is a 94 and one is a 95 model.

94-95's had non-supercharged 351's... new ones have 380hp w/ 440+lb ft of torque...plus better gearing.....plus they can pull trailers up to 5,000lbs!

if i needed a pick-up truck this would be it!

So this is what tried to race me the other morning on the way to work!

The guy cut in front of me and cut me off on a two-lane boulevard. A few hundred feet later, I got out of that lane, and ended up passing him, going the speed limit. Shortly after, I look in my rear view mirror and the guy is flying up my ass and then he veered off into the next lane at the last minute. This actually happened twice. The second time the road had opened up to three lanes and there were no cars in front of us. I got on it and was pulling away from him, but I was astonished that this F-150 pickup truck was as fast as it was. We started coming up on an intersection where I was going to turn right and there were cars that were just starting to go on the green light. He flew by me on the left, very close as if he were trying to hit me. I nailed the brakes and made the right turn. He then actually tried to brake and make the turn, from the second lane! He almost rolled it in the intersection.

What an idiot! Just what I need, a 4,670 pound, out-of-control pick up truck trying to nail my ass!

Can you imagine pulling a 5000lb. trailer at 120 mph? I bet the stook could beat it then!

I have a friend with a 2001 Ford Lightning and it is very quick. Unfortunately for him, so is the S. I have raced him on several occassions. From a dead stop he always starts out ahead and if I don't get off to a good start, it's a little tough to real him in. However, I don't believe the 0-120 stats. We have raced on the highway and if I'm in 3rd or 4th gear he slowly falls behind EVERY time.

Hey Scot-

I saw an example of a modified Lightning in action at the Racemark Challenge- and it was FAST, MUCH faster than a stock S2000. It was there doing the same things we were- testing it, shaking out all the problems, etc. All I could tell was that it needed some beefier swaybars and they were complaining of poor highway mileage. All in all, a very scary fast truck.

Is there really a reason to make a truck that fast? Why wouldn't you put that engine in a more aerodynamic body to take advantage of the power instead of a truck... Its like suping up a Geo Metro, wait... I think thats been done on beaterz.com
